Intensive — Adapting Your Content
for Lucrative E-Learning Courses

Colleagues are making big bucks with e-learning, both for individuals and for corporate clients. E-learning is not just uploading webinar videos, especially if you want to get into the lucrative continuing education market. It needs to have components that prove attendees understand the information.

With these three recordings, you’ll hear different approaches and strategies for making high-quality e-learning to sell to your clients and individuals.

  • “Cracking the Continuing Education Code for a Healthy Revenue Stream” with Jeff Justice, CSP
  • “Creating a Quality Video Course” with Mark Camacho
  • “Multiply Your Income by Leveraging Your Speech Content into a Training Product That You Don’t Have to Deliver” with Shep Hyken, CSP, CPAE

Miscellaneous Tips

The strategy poised to replace advertising: microstep habit stackingVickie Sullivan

I love hearing from insiders. And this Fast Company article gives us a peek into a world we don’t normally see. It puts us in the south of France, where global ad agencies gathered to talk shop at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The parties alone were probably epic.

Skim though the Marie Kondo segment, and go towards the end of the article so you can read about a new idea: microstep habit stacking. According to the companies employing it — P&G and Thrive Global — “It’s a neuroscience-backed way to add a new habit to an individual’s life by attaching it to an existing habit moment.”

Pay attention to these two developments:

  • The powerhouse partnership. P&G has joined forces with Arianna Huffington’s Thrive Global. Their mission: to combine behavioral science and habits while using P&G products. We’ve talked about sponsorship before. This takes it to a whole new level. Ask yourself: Am I limiting whom I can partner with? Many of us think too binary here.
  • From storytelling to handy. P&G wants to provide mindful living content via your phone while you use their product. Note what they aren’t doing in this format: telling stories. Does that mean storytelling is passé? It’s too soon to tell. This is what happens, though, when the market is flooded with places to share stories. Ask yourself: How can I make my insights more usable? Snackable content just got a boost.

Killer quote from P&G: “This will replace advertising.” This comes from the company that spent $2.9 billion in advertising last year alone. When the big dogs start touting a new model, pay attention. We can either board the train or become collateral damage.

My vote: Let’s figure out how to do this on a smaller scale.

Avatar profile resourceSusan Friedmann

Instead of using the convoluted Gravatar site for your avatar profile, the Wordpress plugin WP User Avatar makes it a whole lot easier. Plus it allows you to use any photo uploaded into your Media Library as an avatar.

Technology Tips

Don’t delete contents of junk/spam folder without lookingKen Dwight

Before you empty your Spam or Junk Mail folder, look through it and move any of those important messages into your Inbox. If you have many messages in that folder, you can sort them by Sender; that will make the process of going through them go more quickly. Then you can delete large blocks of actual spam messages in one fell swoop.

But whatever you do, don’t empty that folder without first looking through it. You might regret that action later.

Travel Tips

No-cost rooms for client meetingsBeth Terry

When looking for a place to meet with a client, restaurants and coffee shops can be too distracting. Check your local libraries. Many have study rooms available at no charge or for a small fee as long as you have a library card. Reserve these online in advance to ensure you have a space.

Some libraries specify study rooms are not for business use, however, if you don’t abuse the privilege, you should be OK.

If you want a meeting room for more than four people, there are usually charges and further restrictions. Go online to your preferred library system to find out.

This could be a win for you if you are traveling to a new city and want to meet with a client there. Ask if they have a library card (easy enough to get for residents) and set the meeting in a quiet place with a table, WiFi, power outlets, and whiteboard.

(Note difference between Study Room and Meeting Room when booking.)
