Miscellaneous Tips

Storytelling in marketingDale Collie

This article, “The Story Curve: How to Use Storytelling Techniques for Your Marketing” has some good tips and a possible resource for your marketing.

Sobering message about association engagementsJerry Teplitz

I received this message from my contact at NYSAE. This is sobering for keynoters, but good news for trainers:

“NYSAE has changed a lot these last 10++ years, and, of course, more so after the pandemic.

“Currently, many associations that were headquartered in the NYC metro area shut their headquarters. They are also now hiring outside of NYC. Members do not want to come in for in-person educational events. So now we produce virtual programming and only special events are in-person.

“One of the most important changes is that we no longer have a budget for speakers. All of our moderators, speakers and panelists are generously donating their time, in return for publicity — social, website, newsletter, etc. We no longer pay professional speakers.

“For the last year we’ve been testing content, audience, etc. and we learned that ‘how to’ type of education content (for mid-managers) is attracting more of an audience vs. keynoters and professional speakers targeting the C-suite. The C-suites of NYSAE’s past, while they remain members, they are not attending this kind of programming.”

How to Generate Audience Engagement
and Interaction Like a Pro —
Virtually or In-Person
(webcast)
with Cher Holton, CSP, CMC

Cher HoltonAre you struggling to generate meaningful and memorable interaction and engagement? Are virtual programs cramping your style, with technology impairing being able to involve your audience members? Are you loath to insert stupid activities that make no connection to your content, and leave participants saying, "That was fun, but what was the point?"

If you’d like to up-level your interactivity with unique activities and memorable experiences to make your virtual and in-person event presentations even more dynamic, powerful, practical, and fun — for you and your audience members — join us.

If you’re:

  • Ready to update your presentations, making them more contemporary, unique, and interactive ...
  • Bored of using the same old activities, stories, and interactions ...
  • Wishing you could suddenly be blessed with the creativity gene that would allow you to create innovative and unique programs that would stand out and be memorable ...
  • Tired of navigating the trials and frustrations of technology and yearn for something simple and effective ...

This is the session for you!

Get ready to totally transform your presentations by facilitating like a pro, generating excitement, engagement, and effectiveness.

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind session, specifically designed for SNN! We’ve convinced Master Facilitator Cher Holton, CSP, to share her secrets. She knows how to hit the mark, every time — and now she is going to show us how to do it, too.

In this session, you will learn:

  • the valuable definition of “interaction” that’s a must understand for master facilitators
  • three mistakes even seasoned facilitators and trainers make that sabotages their success, both virtually and in-person
  • high-impact activities that require low or no technology (this is a game-changer when you have non-tech-savvy participants) and are simple to present
  • strategies to transform one activity into dozens of different applications to address very specific needs and topics
  • ways to generate engagement and interaction with virtual programs (including activities for small groups and large audiences)
  • how to break out of the trap of using the same old tired examples, activities, and stories, and create a never-ending flow of new material that is always client-centered and uniquely you!
  • Special Bonus: Learn how to debrief any activity like a pro, using Cher’s WIT model and her “Think on Your Feet” technique: two strategies that have made Cher such a one-of-a-kind facilitator.

Cher is fun — she’s relevant — she’s creative — and trust us, she will stretch your thinking and help you discover depths of creativity you never knew you had! You will leave with new activities for your bag of tricks — but even more, you will leave with the skills to develop your own material, so your bag of tricks never runs dry!
