The Program:

Using the same stories over and over again? Having a hard time finding a story that rocks the room?

Paid presenters face a crowded marketplace today. Your credentials and expertise aren’t always enough to convince a meeting planner you’re right for the job. Now, more than ever, it’s critical to discover how your signature story — that combines your skills, expertise and wisdom — sets you apart from the crowd. It creates your brand, your TED talk, and connects you to your audience.

Learn how to uncover inspiring stories that occur in an ordinary day before they slip through your fingers. You don’t have to wait for dramatic life events to have a story that will rock a room. Nor do you have to rely on funny things happening to have a story that will have an audience wiping tears from their eyes in laughter. In a seemingly ordinary day, there are hidden stories that contain laughs, drama, and a powerful message that can create a ripple effect of inspiration.

By hearing this session you will:

  • understand the significance of an ordinary day by examining the details of one day, for stories for both humor and an inspiring message.
  • create a ripple effect of inspiration by adding your personal childhood back-story to create a multi-layered tale.
  • get laughs by acting out the characters in your story.

More about our guest expert:

At an early age, Judy Carter discovered that the messes in her life were great comedy material. Judy’s message of using humor as a transformational tool led to her being featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and CNN, as well as being a frequent contributor to National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and a blogger for Psychology Today.

Judy doesn’t like to brag, but she did write the Bible. No joke, she’s the author of The Comedy Bible (Simon & Schuster) as well as Standup Comedy: The Book (Dell Books). Judy’s book The Message of You: Turn Your Life Story into a Money-Making Speaking Career (St. Martin’s Press) teaches readers how to become her competition.

Her latest book is an interactive workbook titled Finding Extraordinary Stories in an Ordinary Day.

Judy lives in Venice Beach, CA with her spouse, dogs, and 6-toed cats who allow her to live with them as long as she feeds everybody.
